Sleepovers

Making the best of Daddy's travel....the girls are on a sleepover rotation with me when he is out of town. Sweet, special, one-on-one time with each girl....it's a tradition we all love.

Horseback Riding in Gatlinburg

We scored a CHEAP deal on Groupon for Horseback riding in Gatlinburg. It was quite an experience. They lead trail horses and also ran a horseback wedding chapel. The signs advertised, "Last minute decision, we can have a preacher in 20 minutes". I was so sad to have already married my man and miss this experience.
These two are seriously planning their wedding. Lately Camden has said they are getting married in June. They have both asked how they will get married once they live in different states. :(
The whole crew on our horses.
Love that they let the little ones ride here, its unusual. Don't miss the chicken roaming around in the background!!!

Such a fun adventure on a beautiful day. Many laughs were had here!!!

Zip-Line Adventures

One afternoon in Gatlinburg, we suited up and set out to ride a series of 7 zip-lines. Addison rode alone and the rest of us paired with one of the smaller kids.
Gracyn rode along with me and LOVED every second of it. She has a little more caution than my other girls do, so I wasn't sure how it would go. I admit I was a little nervous heading down the first line, but had a blast after getting used to it. I never did really learn how to stop well. Thankfully, I don't weigh that much and the guides could just reach out and grab us.
Reagan and Tommy were partners. She loved every second. She would have been happy to go by herself, but they were concerned she wouldn't weigh enough to keep it moving. She did get to do the final line of the day on her own.
She's my adrenaline junky....faster, higher, more dangerous is her preference. She loved this!

Dixie Stampede

After hiking around the mountains and getting all dirty and muddy, we made a quick change in the car and headed to the Dixie Stampede dinner show. It is the cowboy version of Midevil Times. Dolly Parton owns it. Her pictures are all over Galinburg. Didn't take the girls long to figure out what she was famous for. :)

The show was amazing, especially for my little horse lovers. The food, not so great. They bring you a full chicken on the bone, along with a few sides, all of which has to be eaten without silverware. My girls have never had meat on the bone and they were not fans. Gracyn ate one bite of a biscuit and drank a Sprite. That was a very expensive Sprite!
After the show, the kids got to meet some cast members and pet the horses. They would have stayed around all night doing this!

If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend doing this with your family. It's a unique experience and so much fun!

Spring Break in the Smokies

I haven't really made an official announcement here on the blog, but the Guess family is moving to North-West, Arkansas. We will be headed out this summer, sometime after school is out. Despite the craziness of preparing a family of 5 to move across the country, we decided to take a quick spring break trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and spend some times exploring the Smokey Mountains.
Our friends, The Sphires, joined us and we had an absolute blast. The weather was cool, but fine with a jacket. We left crazy early on Sunday morning and were in the mountains hiking by 10am.

The scenery is gorgeous and the kids had so much fun exploring in the mountains. They preferred not to stay on the trails, but instead to explore creeks!
Straight from the car to the woods.
The whole crew.
My personal favorite part of any trip to the south, Zaxby's!!! I had my fried chicken fix twice in 3 days. While this crew was sharing shakes, I was happily eating my chicken.
They always get the Birthday Cake Shake. It doesn't last long.
Our hotel had lots of board games in the lobby. The kids always started here playing games and eating breakfast in the morning. Then in the evening they had hot chocolate and popcorn. We would swim and then head there for a bedtime snack.
